Guidelinesfor marina prepared

Guidelines for developers wanting to build a Bognor Regis marina should be prepared within a few months.

The need for a draft development brief for the biggest civil engineering project Bognor will have ever seen has been agreed by a host of major organisations.

Arun District Council, West Sussex County Council, the Environment Agency, seabed owner Crown Estates and the South East England Development Agency have met to start the process for the blueprint to be created.

It will be agreed by them all before it is published for any potential investors to realise what the organisations want to see in the marina.

It is likely to feature the number of homes, berths and any commercial premises which the marina could include.

Nigel Croad, Arun's resources director, said: 'The draft development brief should be worked on in the latter part of the summer and the early autumn.'

The last favoured site for a marina was in front of Butlins. No firm proposals for the major project have been put forward, though Alfred McAlpine has carried out some preliminary work.

l A draft development brief is also being compiled for the former Lec Refrigeration site along Shripney Road, Bognor Regis. This will have an emphasis on job creation. It should be completed late this year.
