Guitarist gives young people a good name!

KEEN guitarist Dale Chapman, of Punnetts Town, is giving teenagers a good name by sharing his talent and staging free gigs.

The 13-year-old has been playing the guitar since the age of nine and his first gig was at The White Horse at Bodle Street the same year.

He went on to play in school assemblies at Punnetts Town School, amazing his teachers and peers.

Starting Heathfield Community College was great for Dale as he had a larger audience, performing in the playground, at assemblies and in shows.

Teachers, again, were amazed with his talent.

Dale has also played at The Three Cups Inn and The Barley Mow, Punnetts Town, with his brother, Craig, 15, who accompanies Dale's lead with rhythm.

His mum, Teresa, said: 'One place Dale loves to play and put on a one-and-a-half hour show once a month is Oakdown House at Burwash Common for people with learning difficulties.

'They sing along with him and dance to his music.

'I wanted people to know that there are children out there who do things for other people. So often you hear about the bad things that kids do and I am so proud of him.

'One of his teachers has asked if she can have his first guitar in case he gets famous!'

The owner of The Barley Mow, Colin Wood, known as Woody, said: 'Craig and Dale Chapman have played their guitars at the pub as a duo and also accompanying a five-piece band.

'They are both incredibly talented young musicians and proved very popular with the pub audience.'
