Gunman receives three-years for seafront attack

AN illegal immigrant who stole an iPhone 5s and attacked a shop assistant with a loaded gun was sentenced to three years in a youth offenders institution, at Hove Trial Centre on Friday.

Arach Burnhanedin, 18, previously pleaded guilty to one count of possession of a firearm with intent, one count of theft and one count of assault by beating, all of which took place on February 19, when he was aged 17.

Addressing Burnhanedin at Friday’s sentencing, Judge Anthony Niblett said: “I know you are young and I know you have experienced much trauma. My sentence is designed to protect the public while at the same time seeking to do justice to you and to enable you, when you have your liberty, to live a productive life.”
