Hailsham A level successes

HCC pupils exceeded the national average for both A-C and A-E grades in Design and Technology, Further Mathematics, Film and Video, Home Economics, Psychology and PE.

The college s Film and Video students achieved a 60 per cent A grade pass against the national rate of only 11 per cent.

Students who are celebrating after all the hard work include Kelly O Meara, with four grade As in Computing, Biology, Chemistry and Mathematics. Kelly is hoping for a career in veterinary medicine.

Robert Thorp gained two grade As, one grade B and one grade C in Computing, Film and Video, Business Studies and Mathematics.Robert also took AS Law and will study Computer Science at Exeter.

Katie Harris is taking a well earned gap year break helping teach young children in Botswana, before her three A grades in Art, Geography and Sociology take her to Manchester University to read Geography.

Sonia Higgins has already begun her career in the Navy, and is celebrating two grade A s and one grade B in History, Geography and Sociology.

Jenny Jenkins has two A s and C in History, Drama and English and is off to Aberystwyth to study Drama.

Ellie Hale will study Law and North American Studies at Sussex University after her gap year and an A in Drama, B s in History and English and a C in Business Studies.

Also taking a year out before going to Exeter to read Geography is Christopher Martin, with an A in Geography and two B s in History and Archaeology.

Kevin Pierson obtained B s in Mathematics, Chemistry and Physics, and is off to Kent University to read Mathematics and Statistics.

Also with three B s, in Physics, Geography and Mathematics, David Tobin is going to Surrey University to study Physics with Satellite technology.

Other HCC students achieving A grades are Tanya Jones, Craig Steenhoff, James Coulson, Lucy Haffenden, Lisa Mcaspurn and Graeme Fillery.
