Gallery North in Hailsham was packed with visitors as celebrations for its tenth anniversary got under way.
People enjoyed fresh coffee and home made cakes while listening to live music by popular jazz pianist Peter Willson on Saturday November 22.
Organisers said the anniversary lucky dip, which included many original works of art donated by artists, was also a great success.
Before the birthday cake was cut, Anthony Spencer, exhibitions officer at the gallery, congratulated Jenny West, who founded the gallery, on her hard work and achievement in keeping the gallery flourishing for ten years and presented her with a plant.
Jenny said: “It has been a wonderful project, I have met so many interesting people over the years, but it’s always been very much a team effort. Thanks to Wealden District Council for use of the building and special recognition should go to the long-standing stewards who have been so conscientious and have kept the gallery well managed and a welcoming place to visit.”
The committee at Gallery North are looking for new members. If you are interested in taking part in the project, either in a managerial role, fund raising or stewarding, contact Jenny West on 01323 848216.
