A Hailsham man has been sentenced to 10 years imprisonment over two knifepoint robberies and a violent burglary.
Sussex Police say Jamie Matthew Gooch, 19, of Moore Park, Hailsham, was sentenced at Lewes Crown Court on Monday (September 19), having been convicted of the offences on July 22.
Police say Gooch was convicted of robbing the Ladbrokes in Langney on February 9 when £5,500 was stolen, and the Corals in Hailsham on February 15 when more than £300 was taken. Nobody was injured in either incident.
Police say he was also sentenced for aggravated burglary at a house in Salehurst Road, Eastbourne on February 4. Police say the 25-year occupant was punched and hit with a baton, suffering cuts and bruises during the offence. An iPad was taken during the offence.
Gooch has been in custody since he was charged earlier this year.
Detective Constable Paul Gray said: "These were very serious offences and the court has already recognise this in the sentencing.
"This was a complex and time-consuming investigation but the outcome this week shows that offenders like this will be tracked down and brought to justice.
"All the people who Gooch threatened or attacked were put in considerable fear and we thanks them for their willingness to give evidence at court."
