Several schools in Hailsham are partly closed today (Monday) because of the burst water main which has left thousands of homes and businesses in the town without water.

Grovelands Community School is partly closed and only open to year 6 this morning for SATS exams and Hailsham Community College is closed to all students other than those who are due to sit an examination today. Those students are requested to bring a bottle of water with them in a clear container.

Hawkes Farm Primary School is partially opened for part of the day to year 6 children only for their SATs and Hellingly Community Primary School is closed for Reception to Year 5. Year 6 SATS will still take place.

Park Mead Primary School is partly closed and only open to year 6 children sitting their SATs examinations and White House Academy is also only open for year six children.

Marshlands Academy is also partly closed and only open from 8.30-10.30am for year 6 SATs tests only.

Free bottled water is now available at Hailsham leisure Centre.
