A GROUP of young people from Hailsham took to the hills to help raise funds for St Wilfrid’s Hospice.
Members of Hailsham Youth Council were joined by youth workers on June 11 for a 10km step out from Cuckmere Valley, over the Seven Sisters, through Birling Gap and finishing at Beachy Head, raising funds for essential in-patient unit and hospice at home services provided by St Wilfrid’s Hospice.
Money raised from the sponsored walk will also go towards funding for a coach trip to Gournay-en-Bray for youth councilors in July, to celebrate the twin town’s annual St Clair Festival.
Andy Joyes, youth project coordinator, said: “The weather was good and young people and staff thoroughly enjoyed themselves on the day.
“The sponsored walk was an excellent idea, as not only was it a useful team building exercise, it got the young people involved with a very worthy local charity. My colleagues and I would like to say a big thank you to everyone who took part.”
Inspired by this walk for charity, Hailsham youth councillors plan to organise additional fundraising events later this year.
