Happy ending after Bexhill couple's door taken

It's a happy ending for the Bexhill couple whose door was '˜taken hostage' in a row over payment as the new door has been fitted.

Mandy Jenner and Andy Dawson were involved in a dispute with River Windows who repossessed their front door after not paying them.

The couple say they were not happy with the door but after a new one was installed on Friday (February 5), they can forget about the whole ordeal.

“It’s such a difference in workmanship, they not only supplied a new door, but the whole professional way it’s been fitted is really nice and we’re really pleased with it,” Mandy said.

“After two weeks without it you don;t realise how important it is. We’re lucky that we’re semi detached or we would have had to climb through the window.

“You take little things like that for granted so it’s nice to get back to normality.”

Joel Ufton, of Team Frames, donated the door and Harbour Home Improvements’ Stuart Johnston fitted it free of charge.

Mandy and Andy decided to divide the £600 they would have paid River Windows to charities of Joel and Stuart’s choice. So £300 will go to Joel’s charity, Molly’s Wish to Walk, and the rest to St Michael’s Hospice, chosen by Stuart.

Joel said he was happy to help and glad the charities will benefit from it.

Mandy said: “They’ve gone above and beyond and we had the money put aside so we thought, ‘why don’t we give it to charity?’ It’s our way of saying thank you.”
