Harbour Lifeboat crew remembered

THE crew of the Mary Stanford Lifeboat were remembered during the annual service at Rye Harbour Church.

All 17 crew of the Mary Stanford were lost when the lifeboat put to sea in stormy conditions on November 15 1928.

Following the service an individual rose was laid on each name plaque on the memorial by members of the lifeboat crews from Rye Harbour, Dungeness and Hastings.

Wreaths were laid by Richard Tollett on behalf of Rye Harbour Lifeboat Station; Jo Godden on behalf of the RNLI; Cllr Peter Turner Chairman Icklesham Parish Council; Rye Mayor Cllr Shaun Rogers; The Royal British Legion, Rye, and Jacqui Stanford on behalf of The Friends of the Mary Stanford Lifeboat House.
