Her success will see her take on the best of British at a ceremony in London on October 20.

Single mum Jade, who has a three-year-old son, said: "I was really chuffed to win the award.

"I never thought I'd win but I work hard on my courses and it's great to be recognised.

"I wanted to do something for me and the lady at the Jobcentre who was really helpful and got me in touch with learndirect.

"They got me started and I haven't looked back since."

Jade was nominated for the award by Stuart Lambert, the manager at Futures Training.

He stated: "When Jade came to the centre, her confidence was really low. Seeing her gain confidence and pass her first exam was fantastic.

"She is like a flower that has just blossomed."

Having left school with no qualifications, Jade joined Futures Training learndirect centre through a referral from the local Jobcentre in order to gain more skills.

She attended the centre while her son was at playschool.

Jade gained confidence after her initial shyness as she passed literacy, numeracy and IT qualifications.

Her new skills and boosted CV enabled her to start applying for jobs. She secured a part-time position at a department store.
