Georgia Langston, 17, competed at the National Baton Twirling Championships in Devon, where she won the junior advanced solo section.

She then went head to head with the winners of the senior and adult sections, and was crowned Champion of Champions, meaning she has gained a performing place in the England team for the 2020 World Championships to be held in Holland over Easter.

This makes her the first person to retain the Champion of Champions titles for two consecutive years.

Georgia is also set to complete in the twirl and dance team events with her team mates, and will find out next month is she is competing in three other individual elements.

She has also been invited to compete at the Disney ESPN Wide World of Sports Twirl Mania contest during February, where she will also perform in the Disney Night Time Parade.

Georgia spends upwards of 25 hours per week training at Freedom Leisure Hassocks and with her team mates in Basingstoke.

She was keen to recognise the support given to her by Kathy O’Reagan and the staff at Freedom Leisure.

Georgia said: “They are always offering me encouragement and often pop in to watch me run my routines which is fantastic.”
