Aimi Jasper decided to undertake the sponsored head shave in support of PearlPower, a special named fund at the Children’s Cancer and Leukaemia Group.

Pearl Dixie was a 10-year-old girl from Hassocks who died following her diagnosis with the aggressive bone cancer Ewings sarcoma.

Her family set up the PearlPower fund to sponsor much needed research into diagnosis, treatment, and prevention of childhood cancers.

Aimi said: “I found the headshave emotional only in the sense that Pearl was the reason I was doing it.”

“I was so pleased her mum Rachel Bartlett Bundy came to support me and watched, it was amazing to have her there.”

“I also filmed it live on Facebook which a lot of people joined and supported and made donations while they watched.

“Hayley Elphick from Reflex 42 in Hassocks kindly did the shave for me and was great putting me at ease as she chopped off my ponytail of 14 inches which has been sent to Little Princess Trust.

“Hayley then went through the grades until my hair was a 0.5 all over!”

Although Aimi set out to raise £1,000, she smashed her original target and the current total is £1,400.

She said: “I’m so amazed it’s gone over what I set as a target.”
“I’m over the moon this has raised so much which will help find better treatments for children with cancer.

Aimi’s fundraising page is open until February. To find out more, or to donate, visit uk.virginmoneygiving.com/AimiImia.
