Complaints about the state of the road near the western approach to Hassocks station are growing by the minute.

Now, West Sussex Highways has announced that part of the road will be re-surfaced as part of Operation Watershed - an £8.25million commitment by the county council to address water damage problems.

Sue Porter from Friar’s Close said: “I’ve been trying to get the council to do something for months. There are more holes than pot or more pot than holes. It’s just horrendous. I try to dodge them when I drive up there and I’m sure that drivers behind me think I’m drunk!

“I contacted the county council in October, November and December and I received a phone call in January to say the work was on the list. They’ve just told me it will be done in June and I thought your readers would like to know about it.”

A council spokesman said an exact day for the work to start and its duration had not been fixed but details would be released soon.
