Revenge is sweet! Hastings & St Leonards trounced Bexhill 15-5 over there last Saturday, ending a run of three defeats.

Those defeats rankled, even though Hastings have never fielded a full-strength team.

On this occasion the Bexhill lower order simply collapsed, and their talented juniors under-performed, whereas every Hastings visitor was able to put something on the scoreboard. Hastings scores: Chris Hann 1½, Marc Bryant 1, Ken Lucas 1, Adrian Cload 1½, Alfred Mikurenda 1, Sam Cotterill 2, Keith Hossack 2, George Jelliss 2, Siegfried Warda 1, Umberto Jozwiak 2.

Turning to wider horizons, Ollie Willson, Fairlight’s finest, represented England in the Glorney Cup earlier this month. This is a home countries’ international team contest for under-18s and was held in Perth. Ollie played at 3 in England’s team of 5, and scored 50 per cent from his six games.

England were runaway winners, indeed with a round to spare, winning all six team matches ahead of Scotland Ireland and Wales.
