And organisers Hastings Round Table are inviting people to celebrate with them as they announce the event has raised £1m for good causes over its 37 year history.

Last year’s capacity Saturday night crowd convinced the Round Table to invest in a larger big top marquee, to ensure everyone has more space to do their thing.

The extra space has allowed for a reorganisation of the bar area inside the marquee, to provide faster access to the more than 120 real ales and ciders at what will be the longest beer in Europe.

Local specialist HT Whites & Co has worked with HBMF to create a ‘1066 Country feel’ to the selection.

Simon Merrick said: “All real ale buffs will immediately recognise the creativity that has drawn together the ales, and an extensive tasting notes leaflet is available on site to ensure maximum enjoyment is guaranteed.”

The festival has its own lager called T21, a pleasantly light malty golden lager, brewed especially for the event by McEwan’s. The brewery has offered the lager with profits going directly to HBMF’s local good causes.

Last year, the festival lager sold more than 9,000 pints over the three days of the event. But its not just about the beer. There are many other bar beverages including Pimms and Prosecco and this year HBMF has an extended street food catering offering on the lawn.

Hastings Beer and Music Festival chairman Colin Gooch said: “The festival is all about ‘good fun for good causes’, we are grateful to all the volunteers involved in the festival.

“They make it such a tremendous three days, as they help create that special atmosphere.

“Local talent and local good causes make this happen and Hastings Round Table simply facilitate the immense community spirit that generated £65,000 to local causes last year. Over the past 37 years, over £1m has been raised for local good causes from the profits of HBMF. Everyone who attends HBMF should be proud that they contribute so much to our community.”

New this year for the evening sessions is the Rodeo Ring where ambitious festival-goers can take the challenge of the mechanical bull and be crowned King of the Ring.

Tickets have been selling well, but are available online and also in Hastings at the Priory Meadow Info Desk, Hastings Information Centre and Hastings Windows, and are still at a discount when bought before arriving on the night.
