Hastings girl visits MP after winning Christmas card competition

Bonnie of Guestling Bradshaw Primary School had a guided of the Houses of Parliament and met Amber Rudd.

She was inspired by the Bayeux Tapestry and the Battle of Hastings, replacing many of the details of the tapestry with Christmas themes including a reindeer, Christmas pudding, a snowman, bells and presents.

“I wanted to do a Christmas card which had both Hastings and Christmas in it,” Bonnie said.

“I am really proud to have won the competition.”

Amber organised for Hastings and Rye school children to design her Christmas card this year.

Bonnie won so her and her family saw both the House of Commons and House of Lords, Westminster Hall, Central Lobby and St Stephen’s Hall on their tour.

The winning design was turned into Amber’s Christmas card by Hastings company Beaneys and will be sent to the MP’s colleagues and friends.

“The quality of entries was exceptionally high this year and I would like to congratulate all those who submitted designs and to thank the teachers who helped organise the competition,” Amber said.

“It was a pleasure to meet Bonnie and her family, and I would like to congratulate her again on such a fantastic card.”
