The Beyond the Sound club on Robertson Street was given a closure order on Christmas Eve (December 24) when a member of staff allegedly threatened a former member of staff with a firearm and then assaulted him in the club.

Hastings Borough Council decided this meant the owner had failed to promote the prevention of crime and disorder, as well as the public safety licensing objectives.

The license was revoked on information from Hastings police district commander and the courts.

The review will be heard by the authority’s licensing sub-committee but the public will be excluded from the meeting.

A report published prior to Monday’s meeting said the public interest in the case is outweighed by the public interest in reviewing it confidentially.
