High Summer in Hastings. July was another busy month for our WI, making the most of the lovely weather with a garden outing to Fairlight End in Pett, another successful garden coffee morning, and a group walk round Combe Valley Countryside Park.
Our main meeting in July had a First Workd War theme, with guest speaker Dr Jessica Kelly giving us an interesting, and moving, talk about the significance of war memorials.
We were heavily involved in the Follow the Herring project on The Stade. Members contributed to the ‘yarn-bombed’ sea creatures display, the Knitted Fish and Chip shop, and also to the Herring Girls Choir.
Our other groups also met in July - both book groups, the Discussion Group and Craft Groups, the Sewing Bee, and the Eating Out group.
In August, we have no main meeting, but we are now planning our Grand Jumble Sale, which will be held in Christchurch Hall, Ore, on August 30 at 9.30am. For any enquiries about the group or our activities, please see our Facebook page, or telephone Jean Hatter on 01424 439427.
