Hastings Philharmonic Choir

November is Concert month. On 15th November at St. Clements Church, Old Town, the choir will perform Mozart’s Solemn Vespers including the much-loved Laudate Dominum.

In notable contrast to Mozart, the concert also includes the haunting Berlin Mass by Estonian composer Arvo Pärt, the most performed contemporary composer in the world over the last three years. His style is influenced by Plainchant and Tintinnabula, which reproduces bell-like sounds.

Choir members have reported having their spines tingled by the effect! Saint-Saëns’s ‘Oratorio de Noël’ completes the programme and sets the scene for the carol season.

The Carol Concert will be at St Mary in the Castle on December 20. Details and tickets for both concerts can be obtained from www.hastingsphilchoir.org.uk and carol concert tickets will be on sale on November 15.

If you are thinking of joining our friendly choir, carols are a lovely entry point, especially if you want to join us ahead of Carmina Burana, planned for April 2015.

The choir meets at the Tabernacle in Cambridge Road, at 7.15pm on Wednesdays.
