Hastings pianist writes piece for Queen's 90th birthday

Duty Sublime, composed by pianist Polo Piatti, will be played at the town’s Midsummer Fish Fest on the Stade Open Space on Saturday, June 25 at 11am, together with Hastings Sinfonia, the orchestra he founded.

In this composition, he said he has endeavoured to capture the Queen’s personality, dignity and her sense of duty.

Polo already has various orchestras interested in performing the piece in several places in the UK.

Other performances will take place on Friday, May 20 at 7.30pm at Lewes town hall and on Saturday, July 16 at 7.30pm, performed again by the Hastings Sinfonia at St John The Evangelist, in Brittany Road, St Leonards.

Polo was also recently honoured to become a member of the Royal Society of Great Britain at a ceremony in London.

This world-famous society was founded in 1738 and received patronage from George III, being incorporated by Royal Charter in 1790.

Famous members include musicians such as Franz Liszt, Felix Mendelssohn, Clara Schumann and Antonin Dvořák.
