The event – aPIERtite – will see up to 20 traders offer a range of street food from across the world.

The two-day festival will take place on Saturday, June 17 and Sunday, June 18 with the aim of promoting the diversity and excellence of street food, and to give non-premises based caterers a chance to showcase their talents.

The event is organised by Stuffed! – a St Leonards based street food enterprise.

There will be a wide variety of foods including vegetarian and vegan, supporting the enterprise’s message of ‘street food is not junk food’.

A Stuffed! spokesman said: “We spoke to many local people and comments included: ‘I don’t want loads of burgers and candy floss’.

“We want to tell people that street food in a seaside town doesn’t have to be bad for you.

“There will be something for everyone though – we’re not a mission to tell people what to eat. Therefore, for example, we will have a local producer selling her own cakes and yummy treats.”

Admission is free to members of the public and there will be a licensed bar.
