HAVE YOUR SAY . . .

The views of people over 50 are being sought on what kind of accommodation and support they want in their later life.

East Sussex County Council's Adult Social Care department is producing the first ever 20-year Housing & Support Strategy for older people living in Lewes and Wealden.

"If you remember mini skirts or flares then we want to get your views on the sort of housing you are going to want in your later life," says Councillor Bill Bentley, lead member for adult social care.

"It is vital that we plan now for the future needs of our community and so I would urge people to get involved and give us their views."

The strategy is being developed with partners in the Primary Care Trusts, Lewes & Wealden District Councils and in the voluntary and private sector.

Key priorities for future investment will be identified in order to enable people to remain in their current homes as long as possible and to provide tailor-made alternative accommodation when required.

Four workshops are taking place at which people can give their views:

- Tuesday 20 June '“ Telscombe Civic Centre in Peacehaven

- Wednesday 28 June '“ Corn Exchange in Lewes

- Thursday 29 June '“ Civic Centre in Uckfield

- Tuesday 4 July '“ Leisure Centre in Hailsham
