Have your say on minerals and waste

People concerned with minerals and waste planning in East Sussex can nowe asily find out how to get involved and influence decisions in a new County Council document.

The Statement of Community Involvement (SCI) for Minerals and Waste Planning sets out how East Sussex residents, businesses and organisations can have their say. It will be the basis for involvement in new planning documents on minerals and waste, and for handling planning applications.

East Sussex County Council is responsible for planning for future Minerals and Waste development and activities. It makes decisions onplanning applications for minerals and waste developments, and for its own development such as schools and roads.

Councillor Matthew Lock, Lead Cabinet Member for Transport and Environment, said "The County Council is committed to involving the community in planning for the future of East Sussex. This statement has been produced to help individuals and organisations play their part andto provide a clear statement of what the County Council will do".

The County Council adopted the SCI at a meeting of the full council on 5 December 2006.
