A community group is inviting residents to attend a fun afternoon where they can have their say about the Riverside Park area in Newhaven on Saturday September 7.
Organisers Riverside Park Community Voice said people will be able to give their views on the future of the park, just off Lewes Road, including the high ground, wetland and path to Piddinghoe.
The event will take place at the Lewes Road Recreation Ground Hut just off Lewes Road from 2pm to 4pm.
Residents will also be able to sign a petition calling for Lewes District Council and East Sussex County Council to transfer the land to Newhaven Town Council and safeguard it for future generations.
So far the petition has attracted almost 200 signatures since it began on July 27.
The petition will close on October 12. You can sign it at http://www.riversidepark.org.uk/
The group is inviting people to bring a picnic, outdoor games and some ideas to share for the park to the event on September 7.
Riverside Park Community Voice is a group of local residents who want to see the park managed by Newhaven Town Council and local residents.
The group started up after the land was sold to Kuwaiti developers who had hoped to build the largest indoor water park in the world on it earlier this year.
However the plans fell through because it was decided it was not economically viable to build on the land because it was contaminated.
You can keep up to date with the group’s activities via their Facebook page Riverside Park Community Voice.
