Head shave ‘fantastic’ success for Charlie, 15

TEENAGER Charlie Greene has cut it for cancer – and raised for more than he expected into the bargain.

The 15-year-old Bognor Regis student had his head shaved last Friday at Arabesque School of Performing Arts, in Quarry Lane, Chichester.

Charlie wanted to raise money for Macmillan Cancer Support in Breast Cancer Awareness Month as both his auntie, Cheryl Boyle, and his nan, Nina Greene, are breast cancer survivors.

“After witnessing my auntie and nan go through their treatment and how it impacted them, I wanted to give something back to help other people going through the same thing,” he explained.

“Most people are touched by cancer in one way or another and I think the work Macmillan do is invaluable. I am overwhelmed by the generosity of those who have donated and all the people who came to watch the big shave.”

So far, £650 has been raised and people are continuing to donate via the fundraising page www.justgiving.com/Charlie-Greene/?utm_id=35

Charlie commented on JustGiving: “Thank you all so much for your donations and everyone who came to watch, it was fantastic, never imagined I would raise as much as I did.”

His family were there to watch his hair being cut.

Proud mum Vicky Greene said: “My son shaved all of his hair off at an event he organised to raise money for Macmillan. Charlie has had an auntie and his nan both successfully beat breast cancer and this was his inspiration to raise money for a great cause. Nina was diagnosed in 2010 and Cheryl in 2014.

“Charlie is a full-time student at Arabesque School of Performing Arts, where the event took place.”
