Health Check bus back on track

THE NHS Health Check bus is back on track and due to visit Bexhill next week.

The mobile unit, which offers free health checks to adults aged 40-74, had to cancel a previous appointment in Sidley on 24th June, after suffering a mechanical breakdown.

As part of a month long NHS Health Check pilot in Hastings and Rother, the specially designed unit is now fully recovered and well enough to attend Bexhill Hospital on 20th July between 8.30am-6.30pm.

The free health checks, conducted by trained nurses, take between 20-30 minutes and are open to residents who are registered with a GP in Hastings & Rother.

They include a blood pressure check, record weight and height and a simple blood test checks cholesterol levels.

There are limited places available and are by appointment only which can be booked on the day - demand is expected to be high.

Other services will also be available and include a Stop Smoking advisor who will be on board to provide advice on quitting, including readings to test carbon monoxide levels in blood.
