Health: The agony and ecstacy of hospitals decision
Local MPs have strongly criticised the recommendations of West Sussex Primary Care Trust and have said there was never a case for reconfiguration of services.
Chichester MP Andrew Tyrie said: "This is devastating for my constituents. I don't think there is a clinical and financial justification for this."
Mr Tyrie said he never believed a reconfiguration or downgrading and reduction in services was necessary.
