Staff and students at Heathfield Community College celebrated World Book Day.
English staff dressed as characters from novels to raise money for the charity Readwell, which supports hospitalised children by providing story-tellers and books.
Students and staff at donated generously.
Students also took in books they were reading at home and in their English lessons, for 20 minutes, students stopped to read their books.
Staff said it was wonderful to see the great array of books that Heathfield Community College students are reading at home.
In addition, the library provided a challenge for Year 7 and 8 students who were asked to solve a murder mystery involving a novel.
In assemblies, English teachers spoke inspirationally to students about novels that made an impact upon them with the hope that students will use their World Book Day vouchers to go and buy a book that they’ll remember.
