Heathfield man stabbed on Brighton seafront

Police are appealing for witnesses to an assault on a Heathfield man who was attacked on the seafront near Shooshh nightclub, on the Lower Esplanade, Brighton on Saturday (January 17).

The 26-year old victim from Heathfield was walking along the pavement when the assault took place between 5.30am and 6am, police said.

He sustained a stab wound to his abdomen and was taken to the Royal Sussex County Hospital for treatment, but his injury was not assessed a life threatening, police said.

An 18-year-old man from Brighton was arrested on suspicion of causing grievous bodily harm. He was questioned and bailed until Tuesday 3 March, police said.
