A HEATHFIELD photographer who specialises in photographing pregnant women has realised her dream of winning a top award.
Sarah Tate, 47, who works from a studio in Hailsham Road in the town was thrilled to win two categories in the Master Photographers’ Association South East Awards and be crowned Overall Master Photographer of the year. She will now be in the running for a national title.
Sarah won Children’s Portrait Photographer of the Year with a shot of three young children and Classical Portrait Photographer of the Year with a shot of a pregnant woman. She was also presented with two merit awards for her shots of a family and their new-born baby and a wedding photograph.
Sarah said: “I can’t quite believe I won. It’s one of my first major awards since I started my career. I was especially pleased to win two awards in the portrait categories as I was competing against the most highly qualified and experienced photographers in the South East. It is a huge personal achievement to win awards in the areas that I specialize in; weddings, children and family portraits, including pregnancy and new-born. It should be great for my business as these awards prove to clients that you are skilled and that your work is very high quality.”
Noted photographer and judge of the awards, Ray Lowe Hon-FBIPP. Hon-FMPA had this to say about Sarah’s work: “As a judge there are always one or two images that stand out from the rest, which you still remember many days after the competition.
“This portrait of Sarah’s will live in my mind for a long time to come.”
Sarah also gained merits in the 2009 national awards for her portrait work and in 2010 received an award of excellence for portraits.
