It follows the fatal head-on collision on Tuesday evening at the Findon end of the road, where a 20-year-old man from Worthing died and another driver suffered minor injuries.

There are also reports this morning of heavy traffic between the B2223 Ham Road, Worthing, and the A283 High Street, Shoreham in both directions.

A stretch of the A27 around Shoreham will now remain closed until Monday following the plane crash.

The road is likely to be reduced to a single lane each way with repairs expected to take weeks.
