COMMUNITY PARK AGM: The Hellingly Community Park Trust held its AGM on November 18. This was followed by coffee and cake and Alan Booth playing the piano.

Chairman, Gill Hesselgrave, reports that two resolutions were passed to proceed with the winding up of the Trust over the next few months. The HCPT has been running for 15 years and obtained the definition of the Hellingly Community Park as a Public Open Space for everyone. Since then we have worked with various developers to make sure we got the Park as promised. This summer the main part of the Park was handed over to Hellingly Parish Council, so we feel our remit has been fulfilled and it is time to bow out. It may take a few months to finally close it down as there is some unfinished business to sort out. The one outstanding feature is the allotments and the parish council are working on this. Some of the residents from Roebuck Park have concerns about the new siting, so they will have a chance to see where it is on the ground prior to planning permission being obtained.

CHRISTMAS PARTIES: Come along to the Blackstock Country estate, Grove Hill, on Friday or Saturday, December 16 or 17, and tuck into three courses prepared using locally sourced ingredients. Attentive staff will be on hand looking after your every need, and festive decorations will get you in the Christmas spirit. After dinner, enjoy a few drinks at the licensed bars before dancing the night away to Jingle Bell Rock. To book call on 01323 848006 or visit www.blackstockestate.co.uk for more information.

DICKER LEGENDS CABARET: Tickets are available now but get them soon as they are selling out fast. The Dicker Players have been performing their ever popular annual Cabaret at different venues for over 40 years and are delighted to return to the Hailsham Pavilion for their second year for two performances on December 9 and 10 at 7.45pm. This year so many great celebrities have died that they have created a Cabaret style show as a tribute to them, hence the Legends tag. Expect to see and hear material to celebrate the brilliance of Prince, Bowie, Ronnie Corbett, Victoria Wood, Caroline Aherne, Terry Wogan, Gene Wilder, to name but a few. This will be supplemented with material on the shady subject of Death. ‘Plus other stuff that just makes us laugh, we know you will too.’ The evening contains sketches, comedy routines and songs but, be warned, much of the material is of an adult nature which might cause offence. The show contains extremely strong language so is unsuitable for children. This is probably the funniest live show you’re ever likely to see (in Hailsham anyway). For further information call Clive on 07801 720763. Tickets are £10 from Hailsham Pavilion box office 01323 841414.

CHRISTINGLE SERVICE: Sunday December 4, 9.15am at Upper Dicker.
