WILTSHIRE police officers are appealing for information to help locate a missing man from the Salisbury area who has not been seen for over three weeks.
Matthew Short, 43, was last seen by his mother and father on Wednesday 11 May at the family home he shared with them in Tollard Royal, Wiltshire, which is located between Salisbury, Shaftesbury and Blandford Forum.
Mr Short has previously left home without informing anyone, sometimes for long periods of time, and is known to have slept in a tent in various areas of woodland on these occasions, including in Eastbourne in East Sussex but has always returned home safely.
He is not believed to be carrying any form of identification or bank cards but is thought to have access to cash. He has previously been known to use the alias ‘Abe Sampson’.
He is described as white, 5ft 10in tall, of slim build, and has short blonde hair and blue eyes.
Police Sergeant Russell Griffin from Warminster Police Station said: “Although Matthew has gone missing on previous occasions and is a very able individual who is very familiar with the area local to where he lives and has good survival skills, both ourselves and his family are becoming increasingly concerned for his welfare.
“Whilst I’m appealing for anyone who may have seen Matthew or knows or his whereabouts to contact Wiltshire Police on 0845 408 7000 I would also appeal directly to Matthew himself. Matthew, if you do not want us to let your family know where you are then we will respect that but you do need to let us know that you are safe and well.”
People can also contact Crimestoppers 0800 555 111 where information can be left anonymously if they wish.
