Help keep Rye a Fair Trade town sayslocal group

RYE Fair Trade Group is urging residents and businesses to support its cause by buying and stocking Fair Trade goods.

Rye was awarded the status of being a fair Trade Town in 2009 thanks to the efforts of the local group.

Fairtrade is about ensuring that farmers and workers in developing countries get a fair price/wage. Workers should have decent working conditions, and goods should be produced sustainably - and be of a good quality.

Rye Town Council has already resolved to serve Fairtrade goods only – such as tea, coffee and wine – at functions that it holds in th e town.
