Help needed to keep Angmering youth club’s wheels turning

The Angmering Youth Forum has launched an appeal for a new driver to take the reins of its colourful mobile youth club – a former double-decker bus.

The group helps to fight anti-social behaviour among young people in the village by offering them a safe environment to relax and unwind.

Inside the converted double-decker there is a bar and ‘chill-out’ lounge for children and young people to enjoy.

A spokeswoman from the youth forum said it is regularly attended by between 20 to 30 children, adding: “We have all been very pleasantly surprised by their behaviour. Anti-social behaviour by the youths in the village has declined drastically.”

The group supports disabled children and young people across the district and is based at its new offices in Bayford Road.

It needs a van driver to transport all the sports equipment and wheelchairs to various venues across the Arun district.

A maintenance volunteer is also needed to help look after equipment used by the club, including its wheelchairs, footballs, and keeping the group’s van clean and in working order.

n Sussex Community NHS Trust is appealing for a new activities volunteer.

The trust is looking for someone who has strong communication skills and an ability to relate well to older patients.

They are looking for a volunteer who is both enthusiastic and cheerful to assist in memory groups.

The role would also involve assisting in general planned activities for patients which will be led by a number of physiotherapists and occupational therapists.
