THE RURAL Community Support Society has bought the Old Forge property in Herstmonceux.
Part of the building in Gardner Street had been previously rented by the society using the name of the ‘Village Information Centre’. The purchase means the society can carry on serving the village community. At the site residents can find out more about local events, clubs, societies and village activities.
Internet can also be used at the centre for a small charge as well as photocopying and laminating.
Computer classes have been organised and tea and coffee is always available.
Former treasurer Peter Sangster gave a very generous donation to boost the chance of the society buying the property.
Moira Bowles, from the society, said: “The society is deeply appreciative of this gift which has been inspired by the enthusiasm for the Centre of the late Alli Sangster.”
