SOME people get all the attention while others unjustifiably are virtually air-brushed from history, laments Chichester's Philip Conford.

Among those to have suffered the sadder fate, he believes, is his good friend, poet and environmentalist Robert Waller, who died aged 92 in 2005 and remains little known.

Mr Conford feels Waller did not achieve the recognition he deserved '“ recognition he is hoping to attain posthumously for him through the publication of The Poet Of Ecology.

The book, which Mr Conford has edited in Waller's memory, includes a wide selection of extracts from his prose and poetry, ranging from a memoir of the 1930s to his mature reflections on western society's treatment of nature.
