Police have not revealed where in the house the keys were taken from.

PC Jayne Cleverley said: “It seems as though the keys to this vehicle were situated in a vulnerable area so I’d advise all householders and vehicle owners to never leave spare keys outside or close to doors or windows.

“Thieves know all of the usual hiding places, such as under plant pots and mats. Do not make it easy for them.”

Any witness to the burglary or anyone with information is asked to call Sussex Police on 101 quoting serial 0225 of 22/8.

Or call the independent charity Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
