Hazel Latus, a director and trustee of the centre’s operator Arun Arts, said: “We are all very impressed with how things are going.

“We have a lot of different shows going on and a lot of different things planned, which we hope will attract a wide audience.

“Nashville Nights & Dixie Days has proved incredibly popular. It sold out very quickly. We put it up on the box office and the tickets just went. We also had a very impressive panto season.”

The theatre, which relies heavily on the work of volunteers, has a number of exciting shows coming up.

“We have Oliver and Beauty and the Beast in the near future both of which promise to be extremely good performances with brilliant casts,” she said.

However, keen to keep the facility flourishing, Mrs Latus says they are always eager to try out new things. “We are exploring the idea of running a comedy club type event very soon. It is something different, but something we think will be popular,” she added.

Mrs Latus said the theatre’s role as a community area was another important aspect.

“It is vital The Regis Centre is seen as a community area. A space local groups can also take advantage of. We are always looking for new groups and the studio space is very popular,” she said.
