Young Enterprise is a programme run in high schools across the country, giving children with an interest in business a flavour of the real world by running their own company and selling their products or services at various events throughout the school year.

A team from Davison High School has set up Wacky Waxes, a scented candle business.

Lauren Hodge, marketing director, said: “We sell scented candles in a variety of quirky containers, ranging from vintage teacups and saucers to ramekins and glass tumblers.

“All receptacles are recycled, which makes the company unique and stand out from other candle companies.

“As a company, we have to organise our own sale events to make our money. Each member of the group has an assigned role in which they have jobs to accomplish each week.

“For example, the sales manager, Francesca Parsons, has to organise all of our sale events.”
