Thomas Peacocke has been in administration following a highly critical OFSTED report. Michael Buchanan stood down as head this week.

Mr Conn told the Observer: "I am not going to be at the High School for a couple of terms. I am going to Thomas Peacocke as acting principal.

"I am looking forward to the challenge immensely.

"But I have no intention of leaving Bexhill High. I have made a commitment to my governing body that I will be at the High for at least five years.

"I will be going over to Rye as an experienced head to help there. Bexhill High will be in the hands of my deputy, Di Hawksby, who did extremely well during the period when I was ill"
