High Sheriff and friends go ‘Cuckoo’ for charity

THE HIGH Sheriff of East Sussex, Kathy Gore, 110 supporters and nine dogs turned out in force to ‘Go Cuckoo’ and raise funds for the Friends of East Sussex Hospices and Broad Oak Pre School.

The ‘Stompers’ walked 12 miles and the ‘Strollers’ four miles from Hellingly to Horam along the Cuckoo Trail.

Both walks finished at The Cuckoo’s Rest where refreshments, hot food and entertainment from local band 21 Whiskeys was provided.

Walkers all enjoyed fun and games including The Lollipop Bush and the Candy Tree en route.

Kathy, who has completed three marathons to raise money for FESH (which she chairs,) signed up as a ‘Stomper.’ Organisers are hoping to beat last year’s total of £5,000 and say money is still pouring in.

Broad Oak Pre-School supervisor thanked sponsors and all who took part.
