High Sheriff and Sussex Police donate trees and money to LCT HOMElink

THEY say money does not grown on trees, but both have been given as donations to help a Littlehampton charity.

The trees came from West Sussex High Sheriff David Tupper, who presented homeless charity LCT HOMElink with a plum tree and a pear tree for its Meadview training centre at Lyminster Road, Wick.

Mr Tupper was so impressed by a previous visit he made to Meadview for its official opening by the Duchess of Norfolk a few weeks ago that he wanted to make his own contribution, too.

Meadview is being developed by HOMElink as a training centre for a wide range of subjects including horticulture, catering and retailing, for homeless people and others who struggle to hold down a job.

As for the money, that has been provided by the Police Property Act Fund, which shares out the proceeds of assets confiscated from criminals.

The fund awarded LCT HOMElink £500, presented by Littlehampton police community support officer Kelly Mankelow, towards the cost of setting up a CCTV security system at Meadview.

LCT HOMElink spokeswoman Rosemary Orpin said: “We are delighted to receive this grant from our local police team.

“We are very proud to have received their support and the cheque will go towards ensuring the safety and security of everyone using the Meadview site, which is being developed into a community training and horticulture centre to the north of Littlehampton”

She added the donation of the trees by the High Sheriff “was a lovely gesture” of his support for Meadview.
