The annual event, one of St Wilfrid’s biggest event of the year, is set to take place in Chichester city centre on Sunday (May 19).

Men from every walk of life will be taking part, wearing the obligatory heels to raise funds for the hospice.

Walkers will meet at Chichester Rugby Club at 11.30am where they will receive some all-important tuition in how to strut their stuff in heels.

They will then be transported into the city centre for the one-mile walk.

Entry is £10 and all walkers are encouraged to raise sponsorship as well.

The money raised will go towards helping St Wilfrid’s continue its specialist palliative care services across its catchment area, running from Emsworth to Arundel.

Communications officer Clare Hawkin said: “We guarantee an absolutely ‘heel-arious’ day in aid of a fantastic local charity.”

Walkers this year will include Paul Hughes, who has taken part in the walk every year since it started, and the Bognor Geezer Birds, who last year raised more than £2,000.

Anyone who would like more information about the hospice’s work can visit www.stwh.co.uk.

Anyone who would like to cheer the walkers on can head down to the city centre on Sunday lunchtime.
