HISTORIC WALL DECISION HITS FOOTBALL CLUB

PLANS to demolish an ancient flint wall in Lewes have been thrown out by planners.

The proposal would also have helped Lewes FC improve access to its Dripping Pan ground.

the decision to refuse the application was taken by members of Lewes District Council's planning committee yesterday (April 19).

The application to demolish and re-build was opposed by conservation groups in the town.

The football club is now to hold further talks with the district council over the future of the wall.
