Metal fences have been removed around the Bishops Weald building, formerly home to fast food retailer Mcdonalds, as work on the £35m scheme continues to progress.

A huge part of the building was demolished last year as developers worked to bring about a project which will see a new gym, shops, restaurants and apartments built.

The building has been completely transformed with the third floor ripped off as builders make way to create 53 apartments on the upper level.

The redevelopment is the third phase of a major project to rejuvenate the western end of the town.

They were submitted by real estate investment and development company Westrock and approved by Horsham District Council in October 2014.

The previous stages included the building of new John Lewis at Home and Waitrose stores in Albion Way, which opened in 2015. Seventeen new shared ownership units have also been built on the site of the former Lifestyle Ford in Guildford Road.
