The Young Person’s Award was made in front of 200 people attending a carol concert in St Richard’s Church - an annual event organised for the movement’s Perrymount District of Haywards Heath.

Holly and her father cycled 935 miles from Land’s End to John O’Groats earlier this year, raising more than £4000 for Kangaroos, a local charity which provides activities for disabled children.

The Young Person’s Award is only given to those girls under the age of 18 who have shown outstanding courage and fortitude.

Long Service Awards were made to Anne Williamson, 2nd Haywards Heath Brownies, for 30 years service and to Jill Holton, Leader of the 1st Haywards Heath Brownies, for ten years service.

The carol concert was attended by the mayor of Haywards Heath, Sandy Ellis, Girlguiding Sussex Central County President Sylvia Smith and Sussex Central County Commissioner Deborah Phillips.

A collection was taken in support of The Nursery Playgroup, which is located at The Yews and supervised by Sandra Hutchinson.
