A CHARITY is appealing for people to take part in its annual sponsored sleep out and raise money for the homeless.

Worthing Churches Homeless Project support 600 people each year and the sleep out plays a major part in funding the work that the charity does.

The event lets people experience what a night on the street is like but it in an environment that is safe.

The sleep out is taking place on January, Saturday 25, at Broadwater C of E First and Middle School, in Rectory Gardens, Worthing.

Rachel Blair, community fundraiser for WCHP, said the event was always ‘enjoyable’ and ‘thought-provoking.’

She said: “As the weather continues to worsen we think of those who are not yet in accommodation and are spending their nights trying to find shelter outside.”

She added that as the need for the charity’s services increased funds were needed now more than ever.
