Home's spirit of Christmas

Kind-hearted staff at a Felpham home are inviting two elderly people for Christmas lunch.

The locals will be given the chance to join the December 25 treat at Hollymead House Retirement Home in Downview Road for the first time.

They are being offered their places at the meal table, to meet new people and join in with all the festive fun after being suggested by GPs in the area.

They will be collected from their homes and returned in the Hollymead House minibus.

Heather Sandford, of the home, called on other residential homes to repeat the initiative.

"If every home in the Observer's catchment area was to do this, then hundreds of lonely elderly people would feel included this Christmas," she said.
